“The essence of supervision in a Thinking Environment is to create a partnership for thinking well and to support getting to the core of what is most important for the supervisee. It is for the supervisee to develop expertise in thinking for themselves about their work - and all it’s facets - with their clients. It is about the supervisor generating new insights in the supervisee through giving Attention and Encouragement- and giving input when asked for, rather than imposing it...it is about helping the supervisee develop expertise in helping their clients to think for themselves.”
🌀 Supervision That Sparks Independent Thinking
To coach at our best, we need time to reflect on our practice — to notice patterns, ask better questions, and listen to ourselves more fully.
Supervision should offer that space.
In this course, you’ll learn and practise the elegant 4-step Thinking Environment® supervision process. You’ll explore how to:
Hold supervision sessions that feel clear, structured, and deeply respectful
Work with both individual and group supervisees
Offer input briefly and only when truly invited
Trust your presence more than your performance
✅ You’ll Leave With:
A grounded understanding of the Time to Think supervision process
Confidence using it in both formal and informal supervision contexts
Clarity on when and how to offer input without disrupting independent thinking
A supervision map that’s flexible, rigorous, and deeply human

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need to certify?
No — many participants join to deepen their supervision practice without completing the full practicum. Certification is optional and can be added within 6 months if you change your mind.
What’s included in the certification path?
The full package includes all training sessions, a 1:1 supervision session, two group supervisions, practicum guidance, and optional certification as a Time to Think Coach Supervisor.
Will sessions be recorded?
Yes, if you need to miss a session, a recording can be made available. Live attendance is encouraged wherever possible, as the course is highly experiential.
I’m already a Faculty member. Do I need this course?
If you’re supporting students through their practicum, this course will deepen your confidence and clarity. Many faculty members wish this existed when they first qualified — it offers practical tools, structure, and a thinking-based approach to supervision that aligns with the values of the thinking environment.
How is this different from what we already offer in Faculty training?
Faculty training equips you to teach the Time to Think certification courses. This supervision course focuses specifically on how to support students during the practicum, offering a clear 4-part structure for individual, peer, and group supervision.
Will this change how I currently supervise?
Possibly — but only for the better. You’ll discover ways to offer less advice, ask fewer questions, and generate more profound thinking from your supervisees. It’s a return to the essence of what makes the Thinking Environment so powerful.
Can I bring questions about real students or dilemmas I’m facing?
Yes. The course is highly practical. You’ll be able to bring real scenarios and receive thinking partnership, tools, and guidance for handling them well within the Thinking Environment.
Can I apply for the scholarship rate?
Yes—No application or proof is needed. The scholarship rate is offered in trust and intended for people from underrepresented backgrounds (including BIPOC, LGBTQIA+, and differently abled communities) or those experiencing financial hardship. You are welcome to choose the pricing tier that feels most accessible for you.
How do I book my place?
Book directly on this page or email sophie@thethinkingproject.co.uk and let me know if you’d like to pay in instalments and I’ll raise an invoice.
“ The Course is exceptional and not to be missed. Sophie’s expertise as a teacher, her care for others and love of the Thinking Environment ensured this was a joyous and collegiate two days. The Practicum embedded the learning through one to one, group and peer supervision sessions as well as personal supervision with Sophie. The Time to Think Coaching supervision approach works well with all levels of coach and, exquisitely, ignites the Inner Supervisor.”
